When it comes to technology development in a company, it’s hard to overestimate the contribution of those who stood at the roots. Vadim Cebotari, one of the first Frontend Developers at Simpals, evolved from a small team to Frontend Architect. Today, he leads an entire team of talented specialists. In this interview, Vadim shares how he came to the company, the challenges he faced and his vision for the future of Simpals.

 – When and how did you join Simpals?

 – It was back in 2015. At that time, I was looking for a change, and Simpals had built a reputation as the “Google of Moldova,” which intrigued me. I started as a Frontend Developer, and now I’m a Frontend Architect.

 – How big is your team? Can you describe them in a few words?

 – When I joined, there was no structure like there is now. Back then, we were a two-man team – I worked together with the Backend Developer at that time (and current CTO), Calarasanu Andrei. Today, I manage a team of 17 people, including 3 team leads. As a team, we’re highly efficient, as all of the guys are responsible, and we work in symbiosis. 

 – What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your career?

 – During the pandemic we had to transition to remote work. While we adapted quickly, it was difficult at times because I’ve always found it much easier to ask questions and discuss ideas face-to-face. That in-person interaction boosts productivity and helps solve problems faster.

 – Is there a particular achievement you are especially proud of?

 – Yes, definitely. We recently revamped map.md, point.md, stiri.md, and afisha.md. Revamping stands for renovating the interface – everything a user sees when they open a web page and interact with: buttons, banners and animations. We have also been working on modernizing the 999 App, making it more user-friendly and feature-rich. Our 999 App is something I am particularly proud of.

 – How do you see Simpals in the next 5 years?

 – Simpals will grow into a more mature organization while still holding onto the creativity and agility. We’ll continue to modernize our products and introduce cutting-edge solutions for our users.
