Purcari Wine Run took place for the first time in Moldova

On Sunday, September 3, on the territory of Chateau Purcari vineyards was held the first official edition of Purcari Wine Run trail race.

Purcari Wine Run is a unique 10 km cross-country race with lots of climbs and downhill runs, and also an unpredictable ground. Precisely because of their complexity, trail races become more and more popular among sportsmen from all over the world. The route of the race ran through the most picturesque hills, and each 2 kilometers there were pit-stops, named after the most famous sorts of wine: Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Rose. There sportsmen could eat some fruits, drink water and, of course, taste some delicious wine.

Anyone willing could participate in Purcari Wine Run after passing the registration procedure and receiving the race kit, which included:

– a T-shirt with Purcari Wine Run 2017 logotype,
– a backpack with Purcari Wine Run 2017 logotype,
– starting number,
– a timing chip,
– an informative booklet,
– the finisher’s medal.

This year a total of … trail races lovers participated in the competition.

The results were recorded with a professional timekeeping system, therefore each participant has got a special electronical chip in his start kit.

Eventually, after running a 10 kilometers distance, the winners among men are:

1st place – Liviu Croitoru 42:24 min.
2nd place – Andrei Vrabii 43:06 min.
3rd place – Victor Spataru 43:47 min.

The fastest women are:

1st place – Natalia Zbirnea 47:10 min.
2nd place – Veronica Cacean 50:46 min.
3rd place – Diana Nastas 51:08 min.

Purcari Wine Run trail race was organized by the public sports organization Sporter together with the most popular free bulletin board 999.md and it is held to popularize trail running, healthy lifestyle and also to find the strongest among professionals and amateurs.

The test race of Purcari Wine Run took place in August, 2016. Then it was attended by 200 amateur sportsmen.
